Zaka Ashraf ‘allowed’ Babar Azam, team management to take decisions, avers Hafeez

Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Interim Management Committee head, Zaka Ashraf had allowed captain Babar Azam to take decisions.

Recently, a video of the 43-year-old former cricketer surfaced, during which he made it clear that Babar Azam and the team management (including head coach Grant Bradburn and team director Mickey Arthur) were given the “authority” to take decisions for the Asia Cup and World Cup.

“I am talking about this matter because I was there on this occasion. I knew what had happened. If there is a bad performance, there should be no need for drifting,” Hafeez added.

Hafeez advocates for the use of spider cam technology to enhance the visibility of the coin toss result.

In a recent appearance on a private television programme, the former Pakistan T20I captain revealed that during his tenure as the national team's captain for the ICC World T20 2012, he had suggested using spider cam technology to display the toss result more clearly.

Hafeez highlighted the challenge of the toss result coin moving five to ten metres away when flipped conventionally. He emphasised that his intent is to eliminate any doubts about the credibility of the toss. "But if the toss is displayed using spider cam technology, it will provide absolute clarity for everyone, including the fans," added Hafeez.

Hafeez believes that utilising spider cam technology for the toss could ensure that both the players and the audience have a crystal-clear view of whether it is heads or tails.
